A Picture A Week In The Great White North

A picture should be worth a thousand words, so this is a collection of pictures for each week I am in the Great White North.

12-5-11 “Ms. Burks do you even know how to roller skate?”….- a 3 year old at gym night… we are getting creative with exercise inside already!

12-3-11 I GOT MY OWN CHRISTMAS TREE!! I cut it down myself, hauled it out of the woods, and decorated it! I got some friendly help from my village friends though!  MERRY CHRISTMAS!

12-2-11 So when it snows close to 3 feet and then warms up on your toasty roof the snow falls off onto your “front yard”  This is the 6 feet of snow that is now piled directly outside my apartment…

11-27-11 Well folks I discovered what happens when it is negative 24 degrees outside.  The sun sets at about 3:00 pm here and there are always gorgeous sunsets. I was so tired of being cooped up in the house all weekend that I made Patrick take me on a walk around his neighborhood which solidified his mother’s opinion of me as absolutely insane.  But who can blame me?  I thrive on activity!  On the downside your eyelashes freeze solid at that temperature…. but don’t break off!  Sign me up for mythbusters!

11-26-11 SANTA I KNOW HIM!!! Yes Ladies and Gentlemen I went to THE Santa Claus House in North Pole Alaska!!  No worries I got pictures of real reindeer, in a legit ice sleigh, professionally decorated trees, and the house where all the magic happens!

11-25-11 Chena Hot Springs in North Pole AK! 100 degree natural pools in minus 30 degree weather… not my favorite, but a really neat experience.  Not to mention romantic!

11-20-11 I live in a rainforest!  3 feet in two weeks!  How gorgeous and lucky am I?

11-14-11 I made the kiddos take pictures with me when we got 6 more inches!!  One boy also began swan diving in the drifts

11-7-11  2 feet of snow!  Up to the bottom of the truck!

10-31-11 It snowed 3 inches on Halloween!  First snow of the season!  We also got to carve pumpkins in middle school, oh yeah and moonwalk to Thriller!
