1-27-12 My students are so wonderful!! Also the views aren’t too shabby this time of year, also bald eagles hangin out in trees… no big deal.
1-23-12 Sledding for gym is my new favoritest thing!
1-20-12 So this one time we delivered recycling bins to key places throughout the village…. and for “gym” went sledding. Sorry I’m not sorry.
1-16-12 HOW LUCKY AM I TO LIVE IN SUCH A GORGEOUS PLACE! Also this is a picture of my students that we are sending to their pen pals in Tennessee…. “Dang it feels good to be a gangsta Ms. Burks!!”
1/11/12 More pictures of the snowed in village on the school’s first snow day in recent (past 10 year) memory. The head teacher and some volunteers from the village spent all day shoveling the roof off so that it would not cave in from the weight. On Friday we had to close school early because the snow from the top half of the roof fell onto the lower part and we were scared of avalanches on the roof…. The adventures abound!
1/9/12 These are pictures just outside of my door. I came back to the village to drifts of snow that had piled abut 12 FEET high outside my apartment door. No really I DUG myself out of my door…. Also it is really really cold, like a high of 2 degrees cold. But it is also gorgeous!!
12/22-1/5 Home with with Burks! My sister and her boyfrand got ENGAGED!! Guess who is the maid of Honor? Guess who is excited?? Guess who also needs to find some honor…
12-17-11 Yeah I am a crazy teacher and write to do lists with empty threats in them, but with fun Christmas colors to soften the command! haha I was losing it at that point! Also this is Santa who came to our Christmas Bazaar after the play. All the kiddos got gifts that some elves helped wrap just hours before…

So I cannot find my camera cord in the great migration back from the homeland. I hope it didn’t fall out of my bag on the flight or through the wading to my apartment! I am working on the pictures I have taken but for now here are pictures of Cordova which is about 50 miles south of me.
12-6-11 MY STUDENTS LEARNED TO KNIT! Their ages range from 8-16 and it was tough for them all in the beginning there was a lot of, “This is so hard!!” which turned into… “Dangit Ms. Burks this is addicting… I am gonna finish this tonight for sure!” One student even said, “I don’t wanna learn to knit until I finish my book.” BE STILL MY HEART.
